Abstract

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fuel cell and its power generation method capable of remarkably reducing the startup time before power generation. SOLUTION: This fuel cell is so structured that opening end parts and the bottom parts of a plurality of bottomed cylindrical fuel cells 2 are fixed in a reaction vessel 1 by using a pair of cell fixing plates 5 and 13, thereby, a combustion chamber B with the fuel cells 2 opened, a reaction chamber C with the side surface parts of the fuel cells 2 positioned and a fuel gas chamber D for feeding a fuel gas are formed, an oxygen-containing gas is fed to the insides of the respective fuel cells 2, the fuel gas is fed among the fuel cells 2 in the reaction chamber C through the fuel gas chamber D and reacted to generate power. In this case, an ignition source 23 for burning the inside of the fuel gas chamber D is installed in the fuel gas chamber D. COPYRIGHT: (C)2003,JPO
